Your next week point will be the ring and pinion, but again harder to break and still pretty cheap.

And I suppose it only fitting I say the gearbox will be as well. ops:
ops:
In my old series 3, i had a 2a gearbox (no syncro on 1st / 2nd), had upgrated rear axles / locker and 35inch tyres with very healthy 186 and never had a problem. The clutch didnt like the tyres on hills though.

Just thinking, where you looking at SWB / LWb?

If Short, fit a rear sailsbury axle (indestructable centre, just upgrade axles ) with either a shortened drive shaft or fit Ford Transet parabolic springs and turn them, as you can use stock shafts but you get about 91' wheelbase which will make it heaps better.

Thanks all for your help. As much as I love the look of a series LR it looks like I will be getting an old Rangie. I just need to make sure I can keep up with the others I drive with. Also as Series LR's get older I would expect that parts will be more expensive & harder to get.

Mmmmm. Maybe one day I will put a series body on the rangie chasis.

I was going to suggest that earlier but you seemed set on it.

Rangies will be a good choice, but make sure one of the first things is to upgrade diffs - ie Nissans, Toy Centre Conversion or Maxis / Jac Mac.

Go Toy centres!

Dave.
