THought

I'd just make a comment about fuel consumption. Put the foot into it any any engine will chuck it down. HAd a RS2000 Escort once and it hurtled thru juice, that was the way I drove. WHen I'm not in the Disco, there's a 94 Falcon Wagon which has always run around 31 mpg.

To the original poster: If you're worried about consumption, my mum drives a Festiva which returns 55 mpg. Running a Disco isn't the cheapest option, but a Disco isn't like any other, they grow on you.

Since it will be of some interest to you in the near future, my research (using a 94 Luxo Barge Pretender 3.9L V8 lighter version Vogue SE in heavy Brisbane traffic) has yielded the following averages.

Worst case scenario - approx 23 - 26L / 100 km's. In the morning's I sometimes never get over about 40km/h, stop - start for the 9km trip to South Bank.

On the long trips I have done down to Sydney etc this drops significantly to about 14 - 15L / 100km's

Make sure your vacuum advance is tickety boo as the city figure was worse before I got mine fixed.

The sound and feel makes it all worthwhile

The term 'ignition amplifier' threw me, I know it as an ignition module. Anyway, had mine sussed out and both the cam and ignition appear to be working properly but was advised to get it on a dyno and make sure that the ignition timing and tune is right.

Since my airflow meter is all over the shop I'm fitting a Wolf 3D computer so this should all be sorted out by that.

Just been away to Merimbula and back and got on average, while away 19.5 l/100km and the best I got was 16.9 l/100km... however normally driving to and from work everyday i get about 350km's (22/23 l/100km) out of a tank 8O

It does suck, but i do love the noise of the v8

Here is a good website for working out your full consumption figures.

no fuel should leak out from anywhere. there is no overflow on fuel systems.
sounds like a leak in the fuel filler neck. or one of the other hoses for the breathers.
you should get it fixed as it only needs a little spark.

also if its leaking out around corners it wont be helping your fuel consumption any.

If it happens at the pump then I'd say its the overflow.

If it happens later (while parked in a supermarket carpark say), then it's the fault of the idiot driver for failing to take into account that fuel after being in a warm car for a while expands (its relatively denser in the underground tank at the servo). This expansion then has to go somewhere fuel spillage results.

I know this from experience ops:
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
