I'm also interested in a roll cage/bar unit for singlecab 110. If you find someone who makes them I will be interested. I'm in Sydney.
Definately a market for these.

I've done lots of research.....
To comply with the road laws is the hard part....
i'm going to get one made up. cost is the killer.
Bond Cages in Sydney will make up a bolt in one for about $700-$900 per hoop. that includes stays and braces and hardware.
Catch is someone has to leave them a Defender to make a template. They only need it for about 2 days.
If anyone has a 110 wagon 4 door in Syd that can leave it there for a day or so, id be keen to talk to them so we can get a few made up.
Bond built the one i had in my Rally car... i was very impressed.
Ohh yeah that price is for Cams legal Cold Drawn Seemless tube... "CDS"
if you were also to take in a few pix of a Camel cage thay will replicate it.
Same thing applies... you need a car in there for them to measure up.
Hope we can all help each other.

I`m confused.
You really want to put compressed air into the roll bar???
Isn`t that a little dangerous?
If I think of scuba diving they have a pressure of about 200 atmospheres in the bottles.
If there comes a leak in it...
And a roll bar should be good for my health and save me in case of an accident.
Not making another source of possible harm...
Just my opinion.

I think you might have answered your own question there. A scuba tank might be pumped up to 200 atmospheres, but a roll cage would probably be holding around 10. A sudden leak might get you a bit of a psfft, but that's about all.
I'd really like a roll cage too. IMO Defenders are downright dangerous as far as rollover protection is concerned. I like the full external type, only problem is most of us here in Australia have Safari snorkels, and that will make the frame around the windscreen a bit of a challenge.

In that case you`re right.
But want is the need of 10 atmospheres in a roll cage?
How many times may I refill my Tyres?
Or how many times may I lock the diffs?
Therefore I would like to have some more air in a tank...
Or I would carry a compressor with me...

I've had a rollcage for my 300tdi Defender made up by Protection and Performance from the UK.
It's a half-in half-out type (front out-rear in). I organised it with them when I was at Billing in July. They should ship it back shortly.
Once I've got it there, people are more than welcome to have a sticky beak before-during-after fitting.
I also have a Safari snorkel, but they make a special plate that allows you to move the snorkel forward a bit so the rollcage fits in ok.
I won't answer questions on the price because - well, you can imagine it wasn't cheap 8O

Well, if my maths is correct (and that's not a given  ), a simple hoop of 50mm id tube say, 4 metres long, would hold approx 8 litres of air. A decent roll cage I'd guess at being at least 20 metres of pipe, so that could equate to a tank capacity of perhaps 40 litres. That makes a pretty decent storage reserve, especially if you have a good onboard air system to top it up with.
For that matter, even a set of rock sliders, maybe 2 metres each side of 100x50 rhs, will give you a storage capacity 10 litres each.
Hmmm...40 litres in the cage, 20 litres in the sliders, I already have a 16 litre tank...that's ... that's ... wait while I get the calculator ... that's 76 litres I could plug into the onboard air. 8O Cool baby! 8)

@ Paul
I think your calculation is right...
But as I remember, the question was not a full cage but only a roll bar behing the seats...
So we are talking only about 8 litres... at 10 atmospheres.
One Tyre has a volume of about 75 litres or so...
That`s only good with on board air-system.
But anyway....
