    auto diff locks

has anyone got a auto diff lock fitted? ie, detroit, lock right etc
What do you think? How much did they cost?
Also has anyone got an LSD in the front? or Rear? Does it make much difference?

Save your money and buy ARB's, Maxis or Jac Macs.

A mate if mine with a RR Hybrid has a Detroit in the rear - this is the second one he has bought, the other is in Maggots car!!!

He rates them and he goes hard - has Maxi axels and end caps on the rears.

If you want to see how good, hes running in the Gymkana? out at Bathurst this weekend.

I had a detroit in my old 77 Rangie..
I broke an axle at Mt Walker then twisted 2 about a quarter turn at the Nissan trials. Fitted Jacmac axles then OK.
Oh also liked to chew out carrier bearings, but I did work it hard.
I liked it, but you need to know its ideosyncrocies. It would occasionally give a loud BANG when starting from lights particularly if the road curved slightly. If you were accelerating in say second around a curve and then changed the car would give a big twitch, and you had to be smooth in parking lots turning or you would get a session of bangdy-bangdy.

On muddy uphills with the boot in, it would be slow to turn as there wasn't enough friction to unlock it.
Overall I liked it , but I fitted a maxi to my 92 as it is tres civil.

I`ve got a Detroit in the back of my 110/salsbury, and am so far very impressed, it makes the odd noise, but not very often, the only thing you do notice is the extra backlash, but once you get used to it, it is`nt an issue.

On anything shorter than a 110 it think it would be more noticable, but on a 110 or 130 the wheelbase is long enough not to be to effected by it.

Very easy to fit, 1/2 day to throw it in.

I was lucky and got mine second hand for less than $400, and had the attitude of if I dont like the way it handles with it in, I`ll rip it out and flog it again. But now its in, it going to ge staying, I`m just on the hunt for a second hand true-trac for the front now.
