    aircon pump as compressor

years ago I set up an old falcon aircon compressor as an on board air comp, it was pressured lubed from the engine I think and just drained back to sump. I have just set up a another sytem for the guy I am working for and told him it cant last as it now not lubricated as the oil is an integral part of the system. Its on a 2001 patrol (ye I know) and is the standard air con pump. So how can I lube it
    cheers

Common conversion although you do need a piston style pump such as the sanden 508 or 715 series.

A slight mod to the internals, block the oil feed into the suction.
Grease fill it and away you go.

Endless Air have been selling them for years.

    This is worth a read

for a quick easy fix, simply run the suction line of the A/C pump to a tee off the rocker cover of the engine. Will be filtered and oiled air supply. Then run an old A/C dryer on the pressure side to drop the majority of the oil out.

You should get 5+ years out of a standard rotary sanden doing this.

Much easier and more compact pumps than piston pumps

Anyone got a rough idea what sort of compressed air output at what revs you can expect from automotive air conditioners? Probably best in cubic feet per minute which still seems widely quoted and understood.
