Cork T seals and oil seal shelf life

I went down to my local landrover parts supplier and picked up a bottom end gasket kit for a 300 tdi.

The first thing I noticed is it had cork T seals.
A bit strange I thought, but we discussed T seals for a good 15 minutes, pro and cons of cork.
I get it home and notice a date stamp on the back of 2003.
    Which the gets me thinking.

    So for the brains trust,

Are cork T seals any good ?

Are the oil seals, which are corteco going to be any good with that amount of age on them ?

98% of all Land Rovers built are still on the road.
The other 2% made it home.

Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.

As long as the cork is my dry brittle or cracked so long as you soak and prepare them properly that can outlast some rubber seals...

Lots of if on that tho.
