    replacement parts Disco1 and rangerover.

    Ok ive been quoted by 2 different LR parts stockists
    $35.00 for an efi fuel filter, for 3.5v8.
    now this was a cooper filter.

    so i droped into autopro neer work same filter same brand

    $12.20.

    the part number is WZ479(cooper) and ryco is FI0159.

    also wheel bearings and seals for the rear diff in a disco1 and any
    rear rover banjo i think???

    bearing race:LM603011 and bearing:LM603049. all four wheel are the same. these can be SKF, Timkin or Koyo.

    rear hub seal sizes:60mmx80mmx10mm

    i paid $18.60 per bearing and $8.80 per seal. one wheel=$46.00
    i was quoted $75.00 per wheel from LR supplier in QLD.

    also Diff pinion seal sizes:44mmx70mmx13mm.

    hope this saves a few of you some money.

    Never buy bearings orseals from LR stealers.

    always bearing places or the like.

    ys prices from auto pro seem ok can pay stuff all for these parts.

    just make sure bearings are not el cheapo crap. Use major brands.

    Were those prices from a genuine Land Rover dealer or a Land Rover specialist, I would have thought the LR specialist might have been a bit cheaper than a dealer, but maybe thats where their cream comes from :?:

    the bearing price/kit of 75bucks came from Land Rover specialist.
    one on southside/boundary road.
    ive bought things through mark before, but only when
    he's cheaper than the others.

    i shop around heaps, its the only way to do it!

    IMO - Only fit Timkin bearings.

    Bearings

    I usually go straight to a bearing supplier, if possible take the old bearings with me and get them to match. Usually less than 1/2 price of most retailers and quite often around 1/4 the price of genuine dealers. The biggest drama I find is getting filters at a reasonable price most car shops etc do not stock Rover bits oer here and the price difference on filters can be dramatic depending where you buy. Most time I get them freighted to me. Maybe a good project for one of the moderators to set up a page that contains a replacement part reference chart for alternat Rover bits listin the genuine Rover number first.

    There are a couple of different fuel filters for EFI RRs. The early EFI RRs used a fuel filter with push-on rubber hoses, later ones had screw-on connections.

    The first (which my '86 RR used) was a Ryco Z168 - same as some Commodores and same as the 1989 Peugeot 405 (I used one on my daughter's Peugeot).

    Oh, the Ryco website shows the Ryco Z479 as the equivalent to the Wesfil WZ4579.

    Oddly enough, their listings under Land Rover only show late model cars. Earlier Series Landies are listed under Rover.

    Good on ya! Would be more than happy to help out if possible but will probablly need one of the moderators to set it up as it would require access and some knowledge as to how the site is set up. Maybe under downloads we could have a section were members could add items of interchangeability as they become aware of them. Ideal set up would be similar to an excel spread sheet a page for V8 and diesel motors and seperate listings for Defenders, RR and Disco for the rest. Just a though anyway. I know there are some forums with some of this info but it is fairly fragmented.
    Seeing you seem to be a guru Vlad how do you add the message reference box to your post? Makes it a hell of a lot easier to know what someone is referrring to in their reply.[/quote]
