    Question What's NORMAL Boost & EGT's in a TDi300?

    Guys.....

I've finally gotten around to installing a EGT and a Boost Gauge in my Disco-1. Went for a Drive and the highest Boost I saw it get to was 17psi but normally under load/acceleration it sat around 16 - 16.5psi. Is this the normal reading one should expect?

The EGT I've installed Pre-Turbo and took it for a run up a long hill with the accelerator flat to floor and it did hit 715* but then I did the run again but driving normally and allowing the Auto to kick down normally and the egt got to around 680* this time..... I'm thinking that this is a fairly normal reading? Going to work it normally sits in the 400* range....

What TEMP do people allow there EGT drop down to before shutting off the engine?

BTW: The Boost Gauge I installed is one of those RaceTech gauges - Does anyone know how to shut the alarm off to prevent it from going off every time u start the engine.....? I tried following the instructions but it didn't work.... not sure if I did anything wrong though ??

    Pic of the RaceTech Gauge:

Can't help you with boost, but sitting on 100 Ks on a flat road, my EGT sits around 440-450.

Mine is about the same, and pushing hard up a steep incline at 80-100kph it goes up to around 600. Highest I've seen is 650 pushing into a headwind at 110kph fully loaded towing the camper. The alarm went off, I dropped back to 100kph, EGT dropped back down to 500-520.

My probe is in the EGR blanking plate.

Before shutdown my rule is 300. Sometimes I have to wait a while after coming off a freeway to fuel up, but that time just allows the turbo to spin down with oil pressure. Any less temp you'd be waiting forever. Going home along the 50km streets to my house allows it to cool down to near that, and by the time I've reversed it into the driveway its about 280.

I'll push to 650 up hills before I level off the accellerator or change down. Normal freeway driving is in the 400's.

I have an Allisport cooler (standard location) and have tweaked the pump a fair bit. Probe is in the EGR blanking plate.
