$404 , thats highway rubbery.
Firstly, sorry the age old debate, but times and products are a changin' so I reckon its fair enough..
second, I looked right through and tried to find the "right" place to post it, but found a argument for and against each section, so ADMIN feel free to move it where it would be best..
ok..
So I need a couple of MTR 235/85/R16 Wranglers for the roadworthy, (having done all the other stuff I needed to), made the call...."yeah mate they're $404." ...each.
as he explained, they are made in the US and with kelvar...(that's why I bought them...)
so, I have 2 x decent ones on the front, the spares are ok, so I can put them on, and get through the roadworthy, but I feel that $2400 (4 x tyres + 2 x spares)plus to reshoe your best horse is bloody outrageous...they were $235 when I got them.
got a quote for BF muddies...$210 each...that means you can replace them twice as often for the same price...so anyone got any suggestions for a beefy MT (I only do about 10-15,000km a year and up to 70-80% off road (Cape York tracks) so im not worried about noise or looks, just performance, that's why I got what I did, ...just can not justify $2400 for a full set.
cheers

hahahahaha...but im still in shock.
$450 sounds normal to me.
I know opinions on tyres are only just a little bit worthless
BUT
on the same roads you talk of for many years I have been using Bridgestone muds (673)
they have over many years outperformed BFG, Maxxis and Cooper on friends vehcles when it comes to PDR dirt road rumbling. The only tyre that seems to hold up as well are the new Toyos.
Bridgestone have now brought out the 674 with the Kevlar and Silicon schtuff I have no experience with the new ones

Im currently on the maxxis 980's and am very happy with them Id quite happily take on the cape with them, and while they really are only a drop in replacement for the BFG AT Maxxis do have a range that is similar to the BFG MT and I've heard similar comments bout them.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Don't get me wrong, decent product decent price, but I just though $400+ was indecent!
theres a reason you used to see BF muddies on a lot of the old troopys back in the day...one of the only decent tyres out there, except for the old army "bar tread" if you could get decent ones.
sidewalls seem to be all the rage today to brag about..
thanks for you reply
