    300TDI, no boost compensator line

I just went and had a look at another members 300 tdi, as a new head will be going on it this weekend.
I noticed that there is no boost compensator line hooked up to the injector pump.
The fitting where it usually goes has been deliberately blocked off.
This engine has a VNT turbo fitted.

Any thoughts to how this is possible.?

As a vnt turbo produ?es a near comstant level.of boost the boost compensator is no longer required.just the internal balances.of the mechanical.advance and governing of the drover demamd vs engine speed to set the fueling.

    Thanks Dave.
That explains it. I'll leave it alone then.

    Boost compensation

Boots, The boost compensation line helps you on start off. The fuel delivery is increased once the fuel pump knows there's sufficient air there to burn the fuel.
Not having a boost compensation pipe there can make the car slower to drive, ( especially on take off, depending on how much adjustment has been done in the fuel pump boost compensator . ( if you make enough adjustments in there you can almost negate any influence of the boos compensator). The natural state of the fuel compensator is to reduce the fuel, the air pressure sensing line helps the pump give more fuel.

My car has boost from not far off idle because of the VNT, so the boost compensation tells the fuel pump it's ok to give plenty of fuel. Without knowing about the adjustments in the fuel pump compensator, it would be worth a few dollars to fit a suitable tube. There's plenty of info on the internet about the fuel pump, but Ian Peterson of Queensland extensive article is very well researched and written, I recommend it. cheers Simmo.

I tried to put the link in but got the first page just type in Thermogard and tdi 300 fuel pump tuning.
