With the cargo barrier isolating heat gain through the rear of the vehicle and a full length roof rack providing a semi safari roof effect it is remarkably effective. The only part that is anything like fancy is the KLR compressor mount. This is the only picture I have of it off the vehicle. The two "ears" are bolted onto a old dead compressor that they have (pictured) and slot into the rectangular holes in the larger piece. They are then welded in place. I believe they electroplate the mounts now, but mine was the first so we just sprayed it. It bolts to the block via 6 bolts. The two slotted holes are for bolts that sit under the ears, so need to slide into place. The compressor runs off a pair of belts to the crankshaft using the twin belt FFR crankshaft pulley. As for using a compressor that will fit the 28V alternator mount, I don't like your chances - it's a huge unit. The evap/dryer is the 300Tdi unit, mounted more conveniently on the passenger's side. I made this mount by cutting up the 300Tdi mount and using some scrap steel to make the thing you see in this next picture. I will paint it properly one day. The condenser is the 300Tdi unit, upside-down and back to front again to get the inlet and outlet on the passenger's side. I made the mounts up to fit it out of L-profile steel. I don't have any pictures of them but I can probably grab some if you want. The hoses were quite small profile to fit between the wing and the radiator, but they work fine.
Thanks Dervish I'll get in contact with Brad about the AC mounts. I think I'll be able to put a working system together without having to splash too much cash here. Can post the results here if anyone's interested. I presume KLR will be able to help with gassing it up etc to get it going? I'm thinking something along the lines of a red dot ceiling mount evaporator & blower coupled with tdi parts for everything else. Will just have to check if any of the components are severely under or over sized for the others.

    Cheers,

    Matt

I had the front apart today and looking at the condenser I remembered this thread, so I snapped some pictures of the mounts I made.

    Pretty simple stuff.

I have the genuine AC compressor bracket if interested, and an old compressor, from an Isuzu County. Some of the pipe work is also there.

    Dingsy,

I have an FFR Perentie to which I have fitted a single cab and roof.
I am also condsidering getting "soft" and fitting an aircon but my thoughts were to mount the evaporator in the storage box behind the cab and ducting the cabin air to and from this box through the seat box.
I will be following your progress with interest.

    rar110,

I would be interested if Dingsy declines the offer.
    Thanks,

Thanks dervish - looks like it won't cause too much drama to get it in
