Disappointing rotor wear - Defender 130

Can I ask the collective wisdom on replacement rotors for my 2011 Defender 130

It's having it's 80K service ($1,000) at the moment and the report I've just been given is that it needs pads and rotors replaced all round. I'm a bit surprised that the rotors are under tolerance after only 78,000 km's and given that's mostly country driving not the stop start city abuse I'm disappointed in that they've gone so early.

I've been quoted approx $2,200 to have them all replaced with new pads and rotors fitted (genuine parts)

For a comparison, I called a brake specialist and I've been quoted $1,130 using non genuine (IBS) parts. At half the price - that is appealing however I can't find much information about IBS rotors. Can I safely go with them or should I be looking for an alternative??

The other component to need replacing are the tie rod ends. Again, I'm surprised that these already need to be changed. ($308 + $120 alignment)

Seems like the same storey again
I was told similar to what you are being told
Had them checked by independent and told only just half worn
It would definitely pay to have an independent opinion

Rotors (slotted) and pads should cost around the $600.00 mark
Ask Chops how his stops now I actually got the rotors and pad`s off a mate for him and he is very happy with the result

Is $308 for 2 or all 4 tie rods, still its a rip either way and can be replaced without requiring an alignment.

I'll check when I pickup the vehicle tomorrow from the mechanic but I believe it was just one pair.

When pressed about the condition of the tie rods, I was told they were 'medium' but warned me about what could happen if they fail!

Unless you are towing/carrying heavy loads, and unless your "country" roads are in very poor shape, I'd recommend a second opinion. Can't hurt.

Thanks - I think weight is my issue. I carry a canopy around which is often loaded with either camping or work gear so probably harder on the brakes when compared to say a 110.

I picked up the car from the mechanic and took it to a brake specialist who confirmed that the rotors did indeed need replacing and they've done the work at 50% of the cost that the LR specialist was going to charge me. I am aware that there may be a difference in the parts used however I'm willing to see what milage I get out of the new set.

On side note - it was disappointing to find that the mechanics over looked greasing the uni-joints on the prop shafts. Hopefully they got everything else ticked off.

OEM tie rods which i believe are the same as D1 are about $45 each for Lemforder so not sure where they get their prices from.

    For example - Land Rover Parts - 17: TIE ROD END - L/ROVER DEF+DISC+R/ROVER (L/H THREAD)
