I compared RAVE for D2 with the one for Defender Td5 and it's the exact same page, no difference at all
I have done a search and there are a few threads for Discos but can't find any hints for Defenders.
Is there a way to remove the alternator without dismantling the entire vehicle??
Times like this I miss my IIA.

Thanks.
The big problem is what else do I have to remove to get the alternator out of there?
I'm thinking the inlet manifold hose and the fan should be enough but I don't want to mess about doing that if it turns out I need to take off the whole inlet manifold!
you have to remove only what's stated there, the belt, and for that the viscous fan

**** of a job Tony.Done both TD5 alternators on my D2 and Debs Deefer. The Deefer is slightly easier due to the extra room. Its a dirty job as usually oil has leaked from the vacc pump.Expect to loose some skin.
I bet you wish you were way down south talking to your black and white mates

Once I got the VC off after about a 12 hour struggle, it was not all that hard a job on my D2.
AFAIR I removed the top and bottom shroud, the tensioner , the turbo hose , and the EGR valve.
The alternator then came out the front with a struggle as it was a tight fit.
I didn't have to remove the inlet manifold to do it, like I did when I did the fuel pressure regulator.

Be careful that you don't bend the stub for the return oil drain on the vacuum pump. My new one came with a bent pipe so compare them before you try to fit . I was pretty nervous bending it back into shape.

There's a heaps easier way to remove the alternator on a D2.
Remove battery and ECU, remove battery tray and bam you have easy access to it.
