If you really want to totally seal the end of the intermediate shaft, it occurred to me when I was reassembling mine after sleeving the housing that a screw-in cap arrangement could be made to cover the shaft head. The shaft sits below the housing surface a reasonable distance, didn't measure it and it would vary slightly as this is what provides bearing preload. A slightly larger ID section and female thread could be cut into the bush to accommodate a thin threaded plug. Would be fun to experiment with, might give it a try if I ever have a spare LT230 to muck around with.

I think you are looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist?
The cases leak from transverse load to the shaft ovalling the soft casing.
Once you sleeve the case, no more ovalling possible.
So whack on a new o-ring and go to town with whatever sealant you like.
The shaft is fixed in place by the staked nut so fill up the gap between the shaft and the sleeve with any sealant you choose.
I turned my sleeve as close and smooth to diameter as possible, new o-ring and cleaned it all before assembly then applied locktight 569 hydraulic sealant.

    YMMV
