How well does the tropical roof work on the older Series LR? I've thought of getting one for my County which has the external ribs on the roof.

Tropical roof worked well on the Series Landrovers, but as the headlining in the County provides some insulation, the difference may not be so marked. On the 2a I had in the sixties I made my own tropical roof by buying sheet aluminium. From memory I only put it between the ribs, although I remember thinking that the corners and edges could be supported on rubber door stops with bolts through them. Must see if I can fins a photo that shows it.

What about just painting the roof to match the car?
... I was thinking the same for mine.

Guys I have a 2001 Defender, dark blue. I also love the G4 orange colour but would never paint the entire car for all the reasons mentioned.

Was wondering what the car would look like with orange running from the bonnet and over the roof?? Might try and mock this up in a graphics app and see how it looks???? This would be quite and easy job and might create a differnet look.

It is cheaper long run to sell your car and buy the right coloured one.
Unless you have modified it to the Hilt.

If anyone want there car colour changed i can do it.
it will take me about 3 months and about $10k.

Thats not just a outside change. thats everything. no spot will be the orig colour.....
    Think about it....
open the bonnet, What colour is it?
    under the plastic sills?
    Door hinges?
    behind bumpers?
    under the floor.............

its near impossible to do, but can be done.... Accually i wont do it. I would get a mate who is a GURU on body work to do it.

I repainted my 2a several years ago - this involved disassembling the body down to individual panels and painting them separately, then reassembling. It was a fairly big job, but with the 110 it would be a lot bigger job because of the amount of trim that has been added to later models (and the fact that the 2a is a ute and the 110 is a station wagon). I did have ideas of repainting the 110 a different colour, but I am daunted by the idea of the work involved. It will have to be repainted eventually, but I will stick to the original colour I think, as this means that complete disassembly is not needed.
