    300tdi alternator pulley change

Hey there guys! Just wondering if anyone has changed pulleys on their alternator before. I have a brand new denso 100A alternator which has the disco pulley so need to swap it with my defender one. I don't want to change belts as that would mean waiting another week and having 3 useless spares. I hear that you can't just use an Alan key and spanner from the front as they just round off, so need to partially "disassemble" to access the back of it. I wanted to see what the partial disassembly involved as I don't really want to wreak a brand new alternator just to change the pulley. I am not really around big towns so will only have access to my little electric impact driver.... Another thread said rattle gun was used.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

I was at an alternator shop the other week and I saw a worker fitting and removing pulleys on various Alternators with a Rattle gun., it was so quick and easy.

Thanks for the help guys! As it turned out my new alternator had the same pulley so didn't need to swap it out. Out of interest I went to remove the pulley from the old one and yes the little electric rattle gun had no problems removing the pulley. However I still couldn't get the pulley to budge off the shaft.
I am very happy with the 100A alternator upgrade, so thank you to roverlord for finding it and sending it off to the other side of the continent.

Since you told me the fishing is so great up there I was tempted to personally fly up there and deliver it to you.
