CV joint help wanted???

ok just pulled the CV's out of the disco... the story...
on the return trip from yadboro flat on the highway it developed a
medium clunk. at first i thought it was the cntr diff wind up. i stopped
and drove backwards. but it did it 3 other times after that and each time
the clunk got louder and i could really feel it through the pedals and the steering wheel. only dose it on turns especially right.
now here is a pic of the cv's WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT!!

the bottom one came from the DS and the inner seal surface(swivell housing to diff housing) is smaller than the one from the PS. now i know
where the oil has been going.

so next Q. i have 10spline front diff. my cv's are 24spline outter and 32spline inner.(is that good????)
can i install the cv's from a 1996 disco with the 24spline axles???
the top one is a hardie spicer A09803022. the other one with the abs sensor ring??? has no markings.
phil.

32 spline inner is not as strong as 23spline.

Best setup other than counties ($$$) as you can just replace stub axles is 24spline diff centre, 24/23 spline axles, 24/23 spline CVs with 10 spline stub axle.

That will be stronger than what you already have.

Did you find the clunk??
The CVs seemed to be oily , and that usually means they are OK.
Just get a seal with the same OD as the one there and an ID to suit the CV. I agree some brain surgeon has put the wrong CV in, but functionally that should not matter.
Re the strength. Unless you have BIG tyres and a rock crawling Cvs are usually OK.

were the wheel bearings adjusted properly......

have you checked your shocks.....bushes mounts and towers....
make sure nothing is loose or cracked.....

the panhard rods are notorious for clunks when the bolts come loose....

grab your spanners and sockets and crawl underneath to the suspension
and tighten every nut and bolt you can(and cant) see...
actually....this is something all landys like to have done once or twice a year....
it makes them quieter and smoother.....and makes them feel a bit firmer again....
trust me....

what time do you get home tomorrow phil....
i would like to have a listen to this noise....
i have had a bit of experience with some clunks on these things.....

maybe i can give you a bit of a hand if you havent fixed it by then.....
