Fitting a Mitch Hitch with a Kaymar Rear Bar D4

    Help!...

Any one who has fitted a Mitch hitch to a D 3/4 with a Kaymar bar on it..... Other than unscrewing the trailer socket to get a bit more access - is there some trick to getting the top bolt through the hitch and bush?

I've undone the one loom clip I can see to try and get a little more movement in the trailer plug, but so far haven't been able to get enough movement to get the bolt through the hitch.

Other than keeping on wriggling things around trying to find a position that allows the bolt to line up - is there some other trick I am missing?...

Thought I better ask before I break something...

Its a bastard of a job. I unscrewed the trailer socket too, was still painfull to do. I had to grind some clearance on the kaymar bar for it to fit nicely too

I had to undo the trailer socket and wiggle the bolt around before it finally went home.

    Success!!

The secret was to bias the bush to the right a little until the bolt was through the hole>

Initially, I'd installed the bush dead centre - which seemed logical, but that leaves 5mm or so out each side of the casting on the car. Leaving the left side flush until the bolt was in the hole and then nudging the whole thing back to central made a fair difference. Releasing the loom clip on the inside of the bar that holds the trailer plug wiring helped too.

Now I just need to relocate my Traxide Anderson plug to a more convenient location and I'm a happy boy!...
