i repadded mine with foam from Clark rubber...
Works a treat
I need to replace my front seat cushion padding. Anyone know if these are available locally for a sensible price, or should I order ex UK (Exmoor Trim for example)

Steve, do you recall what foam you used? I went to Clark Rubber but they had nothing suitable.
My seats are leaving breadcrumbs everywhere.

i just got 50mm think stuff and added it to my existing stuff......
it was mainly at the rear of the base to stop the tail bone hitting the metal rail of the main frame for the seat base.
worked great.
That describes mine - the foam has sheared with two vertical planes corresponding with the edges of the sheet of steel on the bottom. Gradually sinking at the edges as it loses foam. I have not considered trying to do it from bulk foam, as it needs to be a rather complicated shape.Originally posted by p38arover

the current price at Exmoor Trim http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/erol.html is 16.68 quid for the seat base foam (don't know if that includes VAT or not) which seems very reasonable, even when converted into the Pacific Peso, and postage shouldn't be too bad, it's not like it weighs anything, or takes up much volume....
Yes, I've already worked that out - just checking if there is a local supplier anyone knows of before ordering. Quicker and simpler.Originally posted by rick130

There should be no VAT on export sales, but at least in theory there will be import duty and GST at this end, although if sent by mail it is likely to not be collected on that amount - I think there is a threshold amount below which the cost of collection is too high.

I've heard (not confirmed) that the threshold on private imports has been bumped over $400 (including freight)
The private import limit is $1000 AUD anything over this and customs may hold until duties are paid. It may also require a clearance agent to get it out of customs for you which is an additional cost. Found this out recently when afriend ordered motorbike parts from O/S. They came in at $1200 AUD but by the time he paid import duty, gst and a clearance agent was closer to $1600. Still a lot cheaper than buying here. Now if he had split the order and kept each one under $1000 he would have saved $400. I am not sure if this is policy or just an accepted limit by customs, but that is what the customs agent told us. What they are really targetting is businesses in Australia who bring in items to avoid paying import duties and gst.

If import is by mail, Australia Post will act as the clearance agent, and you have to pay up over the counter to get the goods. But they do not bother below some figure well into the hundreds at least.
