Right now I'm with Mark (Camel Landy)

By the way Mark, how goes it?

Jeeezzzzz......imagine the class action if Ryco ever produced crap filters 8O 8O 8O

If you stick with the well known aftermarket products you shouldn't have a problem.

    Cheers,

    Cheers and hope it helps.
I have been unmasked!! I have seen this mob in Wagga but was hoping for something a bit closer.......I know I'm down the bottom of Vic but it aint that far away from civilisation

For now I'm using Ryco until I can source a Cooper. Thanks drivesafe and everyone for your input

If you could prove a defect in any brand of filter they would be liable for any damgae it would have caused. LR infact are not a manufacturer of filters anyway, I believe an Italian firm make them. I would use LR (expensive), Coopers, Crosslands (both made in UK and use by LR service agents), Mahl, Baldwin, Fleetguard and maybe Ryco. Westfil had some problems with improper labelled filters that were actually imported and resulted in failures withan adverse court finding. I was going to use their filters when I found out about this. Most filters are suitable as long as you change them regularly. I have used Coopers and Crosslands extensively in 3 LRs with absolutely no problems.
Karcraft, Landrovers.com.au and Britparts are very well priced.

the OE 300Tdi/V8 filter is made by Delphi in the UK, and the TD5 centrifuge by Mann-Hummel in Germany. Not sure about the TD5 spin on, I've never seen one.
Coopers and Crosland (and about half a dozen filter manufacturers across Europe) are owned by SOGEFI in Italy.

Wesfil are owned by GUD, but their filters are a lower spec/price than Ryco. Generally, compare a Wesfil air filter with the comparable Ryco and it has about 1/2 the paper in it. Wesfil also market Cooper (not to be confused with the UK Coopers) filters and source everything OS. Hell, even Ryco are made OS now. They shut down Oz manufacturing twelve months ago and source either from their Kiwi or South African factories, and what they don't make can come from the four corners of the globe.
