Which brand oil filter for a Td5?

Having done a Forum search and drawn a blank, can anyone recommend the best (spin-on) oil filter for a Td5? Should I stay genuine or go after market?

    your thoughts appreciated

Is that you Stony, if so, I saw your post elsewhere and I did a Google search but can’t find any outlets near you, but there is a mob in Wagga Wagga that do mail order and carry Cooper filters at what seems to be a good price.

    Cheers and hope it helps.

Which brand oil filter for a Td5?

This may help you decide which filter to buy. 8O

    Extract from GUD Holdings Vic

"Ryco, Wesfil and Goss constitute the automotive parts business group of GUD. Ryco was the business from which the GUD group developed. It is the leading brand of automotive filtration products in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Wesfil is a major importer of automotive filters in Australia for the aftermarket, servicing a growing market, as automobile imports continue to grow.

The complete product range includes oil, air and fuel filters marketed under the high profile Ryco, Wesfil and Cooper brands, and fuel pumps and associated parts that bear the equally well-established Goss brand name."

My understanding is that Westfil provided so much market opposition that GUD bought them out.

Whether the Westfil is made to the same spec as a Ryco I am unsure?

I have been also told that Ryco filters are now made overseas.

    Cheers Aston

There is a post on here somewhere about the problems of using non-genuine centrifugal filters. Some people have had problems with the aftermarket ones burring and leaving metal filings.

For what it is worth, I use genuine for the spinner and Coopers for the normal filter.

Been there and done that, Noddy :!:

Now use genuine filter for centrifuge and Ryco for the normal spin on. The oil I use is Penrite.

    Cheers,
    Lyndon.

I personally use Baldwin - as they guarantee that their product is as good, if not better than the OEM part. God help them if they're ever wrong!

But honestly - I've never had any problems with using them at all!

I use cooper as thats what my supplier stocks. Its also what they use to service the landys. I did aks about the centrifuge issue but they had never heard about it but also commented that they use the coopers so would tell me if they had probs and also requested I do the same for them.
    No probs so far.

    Genuine, every time.

There's very few things that I fit genuine but oil filters is one. The others are brake pads & bushes.

I've always fitted genuine but I do get a good price from a non-dealer supplier who is a Landyphile. What is the difference in price for the non genuines.........how does it stack up to a $12,000 failure?

Right now I'm with Mark (Camel Landy)

By the way Mark, how goes it?
