Steering tracking and rods, Fender Upgrade?

My rear track is bent pretty bad,
so I am thinking of either upgradeing, or getting the same and slipping a gal pipe over it, what have others done?

Are these any good? any one have them?

Welding steering components is not the best idea. Its an insurance/liability nighmare.

Better off getting the LRA option, have one on my olds county (which I'll be stealing off it soon ) and it seems good so far. Fair bit beefier aswell.

Go the LRA also supplied by Graeme Cooper in Sydney for the reasons above.

I have a sneaking suspicion you might need to replace the ball joint/swivel pin on one end due to the thread direction? Someone else can confirm or debunk that one.

I have had a Maxi Drive track rod in my Defender for a long time. If you can bend it you must be being VERY VERY silly. Available from Graeme Cooper. About twice as thick as standard and a solid rod, not hollow. Everytime I get new tyres fitted they go to do a front end alignment but it never needs adjusting. Best thing to do is take you and your bent rod defender down to a good tyre place and get them to fit the new one ad realign it at the same time. It can be a wee bit difficult to get the old one off.

    Skip.

I was on the phone to LVS the other week ordering a new flange for the tail shaft and they are doing the strengthened track rods for $270. Matt

Go with the LRA one. got one on the 90 and yes you need to buy the left handed rod end. i just bought both, all up with freight to
sydney i think it cost me $220???

just bought the front drag link from LRA also. bloody beefy
both are 32mm od x 16mm id CHS.

warning. track rods are the same between RR disco 1 and defender.
but the drag link is differant.
