Hi,
Mega fuse?
Cheers
Howdy brains trust...
I've been putting a 2000 td5 defender back together after replacing the bulkhead and it isn't starting... no dash lights... nothing... not even the little red flashing light on the immobiliser.
So far I have checked :
- the battery... its good 12.7 volts.
- earths seem operational
- fuses are good
- as far as i can tell everything has gone back exactly as it was.
Car hasn't been driven for about 5 years now so I'm wondering if the ecu or immobiliser could have anything to do with it or if it needs a reset, or if there is a systematic way of narrowing my search to find whatever it is that I have missed...
Any assistance greatly appreciated...
Cheers

Have you tried hot wiring the starter directly ??
I have not tried hot wiring the starter.... how would i do that? Would it damage any electricals?
I checked the inertia switch it was pushed down already...

Do you have 12V on the brown/white wire at the ignition switch?
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Then let ignition on II and see if you have voltage on F6, F7 in the interior fusebox.... to troubleshoot this you have to follow the charging and starting diagram and see where the circuit is interrupted between the ignition feed and rest of the circuits...if it was the immobiliser you should still see the battery and oil pressure warnings on when you turn ignition to II so it's not that, it's an interruption somewhere
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Turns out I had missed something fairly basic...... thanks for the help and advice none the less... boy have i learned a lot over the last few days! Defender turned over for the first time in a few years today and isn't far away from being back on the road!
Cheers
