QLD, ESC Landie? Stock tyres only....baby

If I’m reading it right the QLD government have slipped in or about to slip in a change which will effect all 4WD’s with ESC.....

No increase in tyre diameter....you will need approval yep an engineer to certify and a blue mod plate fitted if you go 1mm over.

Non ESC can still increase tyre diameter by 25mm without approval.

I’m guessing this will affect late model defenders and all D3/4/5/6/7, RR, RRS etc with ESC....oh and the all new defender

The dual cab brigade are up in arms,

biggest question is how will the rules be rolled out now that there will be an ESC clause??for the last x amount of years those that have followed the rules and fitted +25mm tyres will now be illegal without mod plate.

I also read none of the approved mod plate agents are not keen to certify/blue plate ESC fitted cars.

    Interesting.

I was reading about a Vic registered dual cab that has been impounded because of tyres 50mm over (legal in vic) , he is not allowed to drive it back to vic unless he gets it 'repaired' , blue plated and RWC in QLD . .

I'd be putting it on a transporter and have it shipped back to Tweed Heads

    .
So to para-phrase, someone in the "gubmint" has decided that all manufacturer's E.S.C.'s are virtually useless if one was to get a puncture that allowed the tyre to deflate more than 25mm, pro'ly the most likely instance that one would need E.S.C. (Electronic Stability Control)? Conversely you'd be better off in a non-E.S.C. vehicle!

For QLD it’s the code of practices I believe.....which are currently being reviewed. I guy I know (stakeholder) was contacted to provide feedback. He didn’t really comment on the actual changes as it didn’t personally affect him, he more comment on the way the changes were written as it’s not really black and white...or clear to not only the inspectors but also the punters on the street

If you believe the web, these are pics of the laminated documents given the police to assist them.
