Thread: Cheap Provent 100 substitute.

I am always on the lookout for ways to save money as I don't have much.

Last year I bought a clone Provent 100 with a stainless gauze filter. It seems to work OK although I noted some oil condensate in the outlet pipe. I bought it on Ebay from Smatree in March 2017 . That vendor doesn't seem to be around any more but I note they are on ebay for as little as $46 and look the same.

I noted a recent test and a complaint from someone that replacement filters for Provent 100 were $90? and someone then posted that the Flashlube one was made by Mann for Flashlube. I don't think that is correct as the Provent 100 has a crazy pipe system.

By coincidence recently I saw a Wesfil filter "Cooper WFC 315 " which was noted as for Flashlube and cost $38.95, so I decided to see if it fitted my cheapy. I bought it on Ebay from TLC autoparts.

I am happy to say that the Wesfil paper filter is exactly the same dimensions as the stainless Gauze filter for my cheapy, so I have fitted it to see how it goes.

So it seems that you can have a clone Flashlube 100 with a paper filter for less than $100 , far less than the Flashlube one.
BTW, the only reason that I did not get a Provent 100 is their silly piping system where one of the pipes has to be fitted to a bracket , and required lots of work. In addition the outlets could not be rotated to fit easily into a D2.

I do not suggest that the filter will fit all clones but I must say they all look as if they come from the same factory.

should have gone for the 200, not the 100 clone

I tried , Oh I tried but good luck trying to fit a 200 into a D2 TD5 with a second battery.

I made templates etc and a 200 just does not fit anywhere I could find.
