    D2 steering wheel buttons...

My D2 has buttons for the cruise. I believe the higher end models had buttons for the stereo as well. Can I retrofit these? I mean by that, is the wiring loom/harness compatible? Obviously I can retrofit the wheel.

Modern aftermarket head units have inputs for SW controls. Be nice to use them.

The circuit for cruise control is there on all modells even if they are not fitted with the buttons but the looms for the audio systems are all different according to the specs so you'll have to replace the main dash harness for a steering wheel with audio controls

Thank you. I might have known. Still, if I can find a car...

The Japanese sure did this stuff better. One loom fits all, well almost.

    Thanks again.

I think you can be lucky in what you buy.

My D2 had audio controls on the wheel.

There was a lightswitch on the console did nothing ....until I decided to fit driving lights and I was mucking about with positions when I noticed some wiring with plugs doing nothing , so got out the multimeter and started turning things on and lo and behold found the reason for the switch on the console was for auxiliary lights.....already factory fitted.

    saved me some work.

    X2 you may be lucky.

If your disco has iso plugs on the dash loom then you may find the wiring will be there on the grey plug, c00098, pins 2&3. See the wiring diagram in the link below.

    http://https://www.tehnomagazin.com/...-Connector.htm

At the steering wheel end you would need to check if there is wiring for the switch behind the airbag, and mounting points for the switch. If yes and yes then there will be some plastic cutting need on the back shroud of the steering wheel so at the end of the day it may be cheaper and easier to buy a second hand wheel with controls fitted.

Finally you will need a steering wheel interface adaptor compatable or programable to your stereo head unit and the vehicle

    Cheers

    Steve
