Hmmm.... Could be an airlock in the system. Mind you, if it's still there after you've bled the system, you might want to have a quick look at the condition of the water pump.Originally Posted by hiline

Is the water circulating well enough in the heater core at idle and when driving?
My Lotus does this too. I've always put it down to a partially blocked heater core. I can't see what else it could be?
Could be that the fuse in the fan has gone so it is not working. Check that first. But when you are moving a lttle air is going though
Also check the water leval in the rad. As the heater on the defenders are the highest bit of the water cooling. So if the leval is low then the heater wonm't work. Easy way to check when you are low on water

Drain the water out of the air intake under the vent passenger side?

Or try my trick. Wear a realy big coat. At least melbourn is warmer than here. I get SFA from my heater.
You should be able to hear the fan if its working. If the fuse is ok check that the cable is connected.
As someone once said "there is no such thing as a dumb question...there are only dumb answers"
So I'll ask a dumb question:
"Is the fan working?"
