    Ta for the info..........

    Peter

The older 3.5 I am going to fit is a

9.35:1 compression ratio, Build date 6/84, Engine no 14D00984A, head no's HT 11822 and HT 11936
I don't know what the exact spec was during rebuild or when it was done, only that it was recent

the one currently fitted is an EFI

8.13:1 CR, build date 10/85, No 39800269F, can't see head no's on it.

Did they drop the CR specifically for EFI? If so, why? I have no idea which one would likely have the biggest valves short of pulling it down. I would assume fitting my EFI system to a higher CR engine is a good thing and I'm also assuming will be fairly straight forward, is this the case?

Fitting the efi to the hicomp will give you a performance boost especially if you fit the efi cam as well, the efi heads have small notches in the top of the ports for the injectors along with a different intake gasket/valley cover. I think the larger valves are from about 82' up .

The rebuilt motor has ERC 0216 cast into it so I guess it's looking like a good option to bung in with the efi running gear. Thanks for the info Peter......very informative

With bigger valves and high compression, extractors may end up being worthwhile

Another question, will I need to run premium with the high comp motor or could I get away with standard unleaded?
