Same as Slunnie with the type of radio and where it it positioned. Found the GME great.

I have a uniden full unit mounted in the overhead "console" that is standard. You can cut out the blank plate and mount it there. I was happy to do that as I will probably leave it in there when I upgrade and replace it with a detachable head unit.

Failing that I figure it will be cheaper to buy another console from a wrecker than buy an aftermarket roof console anyway!

I was considering this option, do you find the microphone cables hanging down annoying or can you tuck them out of the way?

Mine is mounted there and no it is not distracting except for when the microphone falls off the clip on rough roads and whacks me in the face.

Yes ....ballistic editions of Simpson's Field Guide to Australian Birds...who said that bird watching is a gentle pursuit except that being hit on the noggin by a pair of Gerber binoculars is worse

Not a very good photo, but mine is mounted on a bracket and screwed to the plastic trim. if you want a better photo I can take another one, as this one is a bit old now. And this pic is also missing the mic mounting that i added.

    anyhow....
