I can't locate the bugger for the mo but try his website tomorrow&/or I'll try again to find it.
Des, I've been trying the Steve Parker website for a week with no joy...

Clay pot & plant optional extras. :)Quote:
Basically it is a plate of 2mm steel plate the same dimensions as the pto cover plate, with a piece of 25mm od pipe 40mm long split lengthways and welded to the centre of the 2mm plate this when fitted is inside of the input gear, the idea is the oil splashing about catchs in this piece of guttering and runs onto the inside of gear and lubes the splines, have had mine on a long time since i fitted a new input gear on the old shaft no wear as yet and when removed for inspection nicely lubricated and not the usual dry rust/sludge.

Thanks for the photo. Does that replace the cover or go in front of it?
The part that I mentioned in the other thread that is in my transfer case in about the same spot looks like it would do a similar job. If I get the urge to remove it (again) I'll take a photo of it.
It goes TC > gasket > feeder plate > gasket > PTO cover.
For some reason they supplied 3 gaskets. Used 2 but no idea where the 3rd was supposed to go. Maybe they doubled up on one.
Bugger of a job from underneath ain't it, or did you strip out the top?
I did it it from underneath. That plate goes in the same place but my plate is not bolted through. It fits inside the circular housing.
I have done this all from underneath. It was a pain in the bum the first time as the bolts were hard to undo (loctite?) and the cover siliconed on. However the 2nd time was not so bad.
My problem is I am at work during the week so even though I have a heap of great tools and a huge shed to do it in, I have to have the car out of the workshop during the day so that means puting it back together every night. So whenever I play with it I have to pull it apart again.
I also found that. Bleedin' Loctite! Hot day & I worked hard for every mm.:D
It is an LT230 problem, not a gearbox problem. So any LT230, without the cross drilled input gear. I can't think why an LT85 would be imune.Quote:

I was hoping to take pictures of it but I left my camera at home.
Behind the PTO cover there is another cover that is just sitting there and it has a hollow centre protrusion that sticks into the gear and on the outside of that protusion it has a thread kind of like a bolt but I think it is to wick oil into the gear area. It also has quite a thick o-ring looking seal around the outer edge of the plate. I assume this does the same job as 4bee's plate but this looks more substantial. However even though there doesn't look to be much play if any and that this plate suggests it is getting oil whether the gear is cross drilled or not I would still like to get the frigging gear out to look at it.
Even with one of the rear wheels jacked up and rocking the brake drum back and forth I cannot move the gear 1mm. I was thinking that it looks like there might be a casting that can come off that is between the PTO cover and the main transfer case housing. It looks siliconed on but I can't budge it. I thought that might be getting in the way.
Anyway if anyone knows what the part is I described above then that would be good. I took photos of it with my phone but have no way of getting them off the phone. I might post them up on Friday.
