    Warped flywheel in fender

Or defender is in at the dealers today because of a clutch shudder. I just got a call saying it's because the flywheel is warped.

The car has only 19k on it. None of it has been particularly hard clutch work. Has anyone got any idea as to what might have caused this?

how bout your trip to geo survey hill, i know it was a tough trip but i wouldn't expect to do a fly wheel

you would need a lot of heat to warp a flywheel, could have been a bad batch from the supplier

G'day All, A few years back now (about 4 I think) my mates Td5 along with all the other Td5's in Oz were all recalled for fatigue cracks in flywheel, these were all done under warranty and a warranty sticker was attached to the inside of the drivers doorframe to state that it had been replaced, at the time Graham's Td5 would have only had less than 20k and it had never been off road cheers Dennis

    They're a dual mass flywheel.
Maybe something has let go in the area that joins both sections resulting in a warped effect.

They are doing it under warranty

I'm just curious. I can't remember ever really working the clutch very hard at all?

i had a bit of shudder on lurch.....most prominent when cold.....
    better after warming up......

when he went back to the doctors at 60,000kms......i told them there was a shudder and they
replaced the clutch.......there was no mention of any problem with the flywheel.....

but they do have some sort of fancy clutch setup on the Td5s.....

and i have not been racing the thing around since the warranty ran out.....

i've had 2 clutches go in my fenders both around 20k's

    130 td5 and a 110 td5 extreme

    both were fixed under warranty

something to do with the rubber back on the fly wheel
    if i remember right

That's interesting. My symptoms were the same as Tony's. Shudder most prominent when cold. I hope it's fixed because it was a pain in the rear

It was fun watching the uhf aerial wobble about !
