just a quicj question if peoples think a 3" mandrel might be overdoing it on a 4bd1 turbo?

130's rule
Hey, def-90, been wondering about this myself, had any feedback off forum?.
BEST mod so far to my Tdi Rangie was the 3" mandrel bend exhaust - less turbo lag and torque is now lower down the rev range

I am currently running a 2.5" straight through on our 4BD1T in a Rangie and it performs very well. I think for the money and the type of engine you would be wasting money on a mandrill bent system. I gained a lot more power reducing the size of the turbo and modifying the inlet to the turbo which in turn causes the turbo to spool up very quick, which is good when you only have 0-2700rpm to play with.

thanks for the input guys, prob not 100% worth it but may decide t do it anyway depending on what the quotes come in at, i have a friend that tells me he can get it done very cheaply...
it also will depend upon if i can get my dump pipe enlarged as well? it's pretty tight where she runs.
DRanged u coming this weekend for a play to cruiser...i think u should, i'd like to c ride in another 4BD1T to compare...

It's definatly worth it, I've converted a couple (including my own ) to 3" and the dyno dosn't lie! Go the full flow system.
Dranged
I'm looking into the R380 conversion to go behind my 4bd1-T, a couple of Q's if you have time. What high range ratio are you running in the 230? and what sort of fuel consuption dose your rig get? I've heard good reports about the conversion, what's your thoughts?
TIA
Cheers Larns
