Thanks Rick, I'll chase up an autoelec mate on my days off, otherwise there's a VDO Speedometer shop / workshop about 5km away.

Mine reves at 2200rpm at 100kmh. I have the ZF auto though. 110kmh revs at 2500rpm.
I also have a bigger intercooler and the chip.

I made some enquiries about these Defender Overdrives out of Canada. I think the Canadian Dollar and the $AUD are closer and thus less likely to be hurt by exchange rates.
I also like that these overdrives use the t/case oil and do not require their own oil seals & sumps.
I inquired about pricing for up to 5 overdrives (for a Land Rover club - I didn't specify which club, but I meant aulro). I'll let you know what transpires.
The link below will take you to the site that has the tech info. FWD Motors in QLD are agents, but when I've inquired about other parts in the past, they haven't stocked much.

interesting. I think I'm in 5th at 70-80kms and 100kms revs a bit in my 2001 defender. that said I can over take at 120-130kms if need be but the vehilce revs out a fair bit.
What are the standard revs and speeds at which people change gears? I'd be interested to see if my rig has low gearing or not (I think its just the defender way of life though.

i don't know why anyone would lower high range on a defender.
don't get me wrong, they can use lower gearing. but i think most would change R&P or low range or both
mabe it has 4.1 R&P's
cheers, serg
