Probably a good idea to introduce yourself if you haven't done so.

As far as the swap goes, is the Defender already a TD5? Or is everything getting swapped from a Disco?

That would possibly change the way I went about it. You will also require an engine controller that has CANBUS if you are going to use the Bosch auto controller that the D2 uses.

The original Defender engine ECU is manual only.

If I was doing this I'd also use the Discovery 2 transfer case with higher high range gearing

If you can get your hands on a copy of RAVE (factory workshop manual), it is in there.

Apologies for inadvertently ignoring the main question asked, I just went straight to the pointers section!

I haven't actually searched this, and it's also possibly NAS, but you might find it in here.

its in the RAVE which you can obtain through the shop on AULRO.com.

The easiest way is with a Compushift setup, I use these guys..

Stand Alone COMPUSHIFT Automatic Transmission Controllers

so long as you're starting with a working td5 auto disco next to a td5 deefer, the 2 hardest things are mounting the shifter and routing up the cooler lines (along side matching your dress and heels)

Fit the heavy duty flex plate while you're in there.

I can possibly help - time permitting, on fitting a standard D2 auto controller if required, it'll be a bit cheaper than a compushift.
