FWIW ive just been through the exercise of removing my eurovox cassette
(with the slots either end) radio with all sorts of problems.

tried the hacksaw blade trick, pen knives, the keys from the new cd/mp3 player , and finally a bit of brutality , to no avail.
finally i found an old fish hook remover , similar to the shape of the bent wire in the photo, slipped it in the cassette slot , hooked the top of the cassette player , pulled , and it slipped out like the proverbial

also found a thread that identifies the colour code of the cables,

(i had one extra, a pinkish colour which was the permanent supply from the battery.).

    hope this helps someone

    cheers

For my County radio, I went down to Strathfield Car Radio and they released it free of charge.
