If I was to go a Diesel, (providing it didn't already have one) I'd do what the Army did and put an Isuzu in it.

You're right about the 2.6L Rover 6. It is not popular, and for good reason.

But does an izusu fit straight in, or are we talking serious mods to engine bay/gearbox/trans etc not to mention costs.

I guess the question remains whether a TDi engine or other deisel will fit in to a late series 3 (military) and what gearbox or transfer case mods will be needed.

Or can the old Rover 6 be modified to become more efficient and comfortable?

Am I right in assuming the LT77/lt230 is the normal 5 speed box for the 200TDi engine??

    cheers
I'll get some pics and info over this coming weekend.

I have one that is not good (I think it has been dusted) but may well be worth overhauling. 1981 five bearing, genuine 40,000km - but all offroad. Let me know if you are interested.

One came up on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Didn't keep track of it - was in a wreckers in SA. Might have been passed in and still available.
