I've been thinking along the same lines in respect of brake fluid for my P38A. The P38A (and the later RR classics) use an ultra-expensive (many thousands of dollars) brake "booster" - the WABCO unit. I wouldn't want the seals in that to go for want of the right fluid.

Absolutely right!

How many litres of the stuff do you need?..........Even with a difference of $8 per litre, it's hardly gonna break the bank........

Compare it with the cost of replacing or repairing components........why quibble over the price diffeence when it's not THAT much.

I'm successfully using the Castrol Transmax Z synthetic transmission fluid in both the power steering and the auto box. It's a synthetic Dexron type fluid. I originally used it in the PS because my local LR dealer told me it's what they use rather than the expensive LR fluid.

I need some for my L322 steering. Hunting around, Penrite have a 14315 equivalent PAS FLUID - (Power Assisted Steering Fluid) but it's $28/litre at SuperCheap.

So what's the special brake fluid for the Wabco unit? Now I'm feeling bad for having replaced the fluid about three times in the past eight years/90000km with Castrol Dot 4 in my Wabco equipped RRC.
