Which Fuel for the D2 bent 8?

On redbook it says the 95 octane fuel is required for the D2 V8?

    Is this true?

I also read the motor was detuned for Aus and Canada to run on crappy petrol?

What have others found to be the go?

The D2 runs a higher compression than the D1 so premium unleaded is required.
They do have knock sensors so in theory they could run on 91 OK.

Not true. The D2 is designed to run on our standard unleaded. I went over this with LR and with Range Rov and they both agree it should run on standard. If it doesn't and pings when you use standard unleaded it usually means you have a problem with your O2 sensor which is a common problem.

Doesn't it have a label inside the fuel flap stating Premium Unleaded only (or similar) ?

This doesn't add up, in the owners manual and RAVE CD seems to contradict this.

I've been running mine for the last couple of years on standard unleaded .... no ping.

I did a little trial at running premium ( as they tell you you will get better milage..) the result.... my fuel bill went up

I'm sticking with standard unleaded - can't see a reason to change.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

    2000 D2 V8...gone...

This was to be expected. It means that you enjoyed the slightly extra horses that the premium gave you

    Cheeers.
