Thread: Rangie auto and t/f type

The 727 is the small Torqueflite. The 904 and Loadflite were the severe service ones. the 727 and BW35 have virtually identical ratios. The Tf wil outlive 10 BW's in rough service. They are bullet proof. Chrysler Hemi 6's & small blocks (LA engine family) v8's dont break them so I don't think the little Buick-Olds-Rover will either.

My 82 4dr has a Borg Werner 35 that was fitted by Vitesse Developments in Melbourne. The T-bar and transfer lever are as the other guys suggest, T-bar offset and transfer back a fair way. I find it to be strong but a bit clunky through the changes, and it doesn't drop into 3rd untill I'm doing about 70 clicks! Quite annoying driving around town. Don't know if thats adjustable at all.

Oh well, looking at it, it seems that its the BW35 gearbox, with literally the entire LT95 bolted in behind it.

I guess if I need strength, then I need to change it out. I guess the options are TF/LT230, ZF/LT230. Turbo400/LT230 would be nice. Are there other options that are cheap and strong?

This is the worry re the BW. Perhaps the TF is a good option, and from what I've just read, it seems that they fit the Rangie transmission tunnel.
