My 98 Auto V8 averages about 19l/100km. It has gotten as low as around 14l/100km on the highway but as most of my driving is around town that pushes my overall average up. I noticed that I got a bit better economy using the new Shell V-Power. I'm just glad that I only drive about 120km per week.

One thing to note D1 vs D2 is D2's 'Thor' inlet manifold is supposed to help improve low-rpm torque and fuel economy. There was a thread somewhere here about this ... and I have heard others say D2's are slightly better on fuel but I don't think there's much in it. BTW, if you have a Disco LS, isn't that one of the last D1s anyway?

The LS is one of the last D1's. Mine is an LS and as far as I know they were only released in '98 and I guess early '99.

is an LS a D2 model?????

as he never actually stated that he had a D2 he said it was a 99 model,

    but that doesn't mean its a D2 as we to have a 99 model v8 and thats a D1

Yes its a D1 with 70k on the clock, Do you gauys find you use a little oil Arond 300 ml per 1000k?

I have just driven Melbourne to townsville with a big boat on the back ( I reckon it was pretty clagged when I got it) around 600k I reckon the powwer increased, but it drank a little oil , I figur it was jsut freeing up and getting rid of some goo, so havent been too concerned, it seems to settle ow. Any thoughts on the amount of oil it should use ?

Have a look at the nearside of the engine (passenger side for r.h.d.) - just above the engine No.

On the same plate it should show the comp ratio 1:85 or 1:93 (I think)

Obviously the higher the no. (85 or 93) the higher the compression
