cant see why they wouldnt!
you will need to re-gain the castor after the lift though.
ie. cranked radius arms. or slotted swivel balls.
oh and longer brakelines/abs and shocks.
cheers phil
G'day guys long time no speak. Life has been busy with the new business.
Anyway I got rid of my serries 2 disco,, but before I did I took the 4" lifted coils out, does anyone know if they will go into my latest toy... A serries 1 disco ???????????????????

The front lower spring perches will need to be changed to a Disco2 type also. You'll also need a Disco2 front propshaft and transfer output flange to suit.

I will look into getting the spring perches,, but excuse my mechanical limits,,, what is the rest of the stuff ????Originally Posted by Slunnie
Might just be easier to order some new ones ..??
The propshaft is the driveline bit between the gearbox and the diff, and the transfer case output flange is the bit on the gearbox that the Disco2 propshaft bolts on to. This will help stop it all vibrating at that lift as its a different design.

my S1 disco had no vibes with a 3'' lift, but the steering was all over the place!
ide just throw the springs in and see how it drives.
then go from there.
cheers phil
Thanks, sometimes the brain is to busy trying to work out something it dosn't understand the obvious.
Slunnie - not sure if you will know,,,,, these are the same luvell coils you have in your D2,, will the compression rates be to hard for a disco 1 ???
Or should I just give this idea away & go with some new coils.
I see snake racing are doing 4" lifted coils for D1's now, as well as adjustable pan hard rod, tailshaft spacers & a few other odds & ends.
Or a 2" lift with some dislocating suspension system like what I had in my old defender & a 2" body lift to make the tyres fit ???
Have a look at this mate, seeing as the lift will be 4" as with Sunnies and mine and of cause yours when you had the D2, all the mods needed will be listed in the lift kit.Originally Posted by Gidget

The rates that I've got are similar to what OME use in the Disco1, the rears may be a little stiffer due to the way the progressive action works. This said, these springs are setup to tour primarily, but they do still flex reasonable well for play, but for play only springs I would probably be down at around 180F/220R where I'm at about 230F/300-340R.Originally Posted by Gidget
I'm not sure what the 4" Snake springs are like, but if they're like the King 4" springs, they are a stiff setup.
WRT dislocation, I'm not convinced by it. I know with my IIa 100" that if the springs are dislocated it doesn't work anywhere near as well as if its all retained. A dislocated rear doesn't allow the front to flex much. BUT, there are many that like it.

If it is possible for anyone to give me some suggestions on what springs will suit my needs.
I would like the disco to flex well (as it has to play hard with modified patrols & cruisers) but still tour well.
I would like to get a minimum of 3" lift once loaded but if this will cause to many dramas a 2" lift loaded will be fine. (I don't want much do I).
The front will be fitted with custom front steel bar with t-max 9500lb winch, as well as having a 2nd battery under the bonnet on the passengers side where the jack use to sit.
The rear will be sporting a custom made steel bar with tow bar & rear wheel carrier built on (hopefully duel wheel carrier if it fits).
The rear cargo area will have a set of drawers with a 60l waeco fridge sitting on top & the 2 side pocket areas will both have a 130amp hour trojan deep cycle battery in each side. One drawer will be full of recovery gear at all times (apporox 60-70 kg's) & the other drawer will be left empty to use as we need it.
