    door lock cylinder

    Hi,

when I bought my Disco the driver side door lock was busted. So I can't use the key and I won't be able to "morse" the code in case my remote does not work.
I was at a locksmith and he said he can get a non genuine one and then cut it. Now he rings me and says he can't get one.
Is there a place where you can get those so I can get one and he can make it fit ?

For the Disco 1, I'd suggest going to another locksmith, as they are a standard lock and about the easist thing to rebuild. The hard part is taking the door trim off - the interior of the lock is the same as most GM and Ford of that age. If you've ever taken the locks apart from office furniture you'll be able to take the lock out of the D1.
It should be similar in a D2, but I can't say for sure.

    Thanks.
It's a D1 and I took the interior off to save some time/money with the locksmith. Will try another one next week.

    Hi
I just got a key cut from a barrel, (today).
I took the handle off the rear door of my rangie and took it to a locksmith, they done it in two days and charged $35. A good deal I thought.

They said it would have cost about $65 if I just drive it in and they removed the lock.

Yeah, that's pretty much the going rates from good and honest locksmiths.
