my S111 had a Holden 186 motor in it with an adaptor made by a company called Dellow in Sydney their phone number was 02 774 4419 don't know if the company still exists

That name's a blast from the past......if they're still around you need to put a "9" in front of the local Sydney number now - they changed them all over more than 10 years ago......so try 02 "9"774 4419

Isn't there an outfit called Mark's Adapters in Melbourne???????? .....sorry but I haven't got any more info on this.

yes - Marks didn't list anything series - they still exsist maybe they can help.
Ill try the sydney one though.
I'm thinking of the realities of keeping both the 2a and the 109. I'll be posting
something about that when I have made some kind of decision. Right now I'm just trying to figure my option on a limited budget etc.

Really its just the fuel consumption vs lack of power and (comfortable) top speed.

4 litres? isn't that REALLY BIG for a 109 with a limited fuel wallet?

Physically it's about the same size as the Holden Six.....It's got a helluva lot more torque than a Holden......I've got a 186 in my 2a 109" and quite frankly it's a bad choice/bad match of motor to car......it revs its guts out at 70-80 klm/hr.....VERY unpleasant/nervewracking to drive.....top speed with foot flat to floor it does 100klm/hr......best rev range for motor to cruise at results in a roadspeed of 50klm/hr - too slow for other than small suburban streets......that's why I only drive it on my property mainly - luckily I've got 400 acres of bush up in QLD.

Free is better than economical or cheap!!!

And you've got everything you need to do the conversion job!

At the price it's gotta be worth a go!

If money were no object I'd say replace the LR Six with a LR 2.25 Four that's been fully re-coed, rebuilt and custom "massaged" and you'd have a fantastic match for the vehicle.....but I've looked into it and re-building the LR 4's is MORE costly than re-coing a LR V8!!.....you're looking at $4000-5000!


AS for transporting from Melbourne to Brisbane , I've seen and heard of lots of free favours extended to fellow members on this website of Land Rover mates!!!......I mean where else to you hear of a stranger offering to GIVE away a motor and adapters kit to unknown strangers who are Land Rover MATES?
Transporting it on the back of a truck going up your way is the least of your worries?

Plus, did I get it right that you wanted to do a LPG conversion and this has already got it?

HAVE A GOOD THINK ABOUT IT.......IT SOUNDS A GOOD DEAL TO ME!!!!

If you put it in and after 6 months decide it's NOT what you want, rip it all out and give it away to someone else.........and you haven't even lost the value of your labour on the fit-it-in and take-it-out job - you've benefitted in working more closely in getting to know YOUR truck more intimately.

As for fuel consumption, there wouldn't be much in it......the Holden is thirsty [ this I KNOW from personal experience] because it's revving so hard most of the time whereas the bigger Ford is taking it much more leisurely.
