So I have had quite a variety of responses, but it seems as though the range of 650-700 degrees on a long climb is about the mark?
It would seem that my initial fuel settings were hardly pushing the mark.
So I have
1. cranked up the smoke screw on the pump (spruce up that takeoff)
2. turned the diaphraghm to 3:00
3. cranked the star wheel down quarter of a turn
The disco pulls noticeably harder now, but I had the exhaust temp (pre turbo) over 500 pretty smartly just tooling around the suburban streets here (OK so 'tooling around' = thrashing it up to full boost quite a bit, but still not prolonged acceleration).
I will try a hill climb hopefully tomorrow and keep a sharp eye on the EGT. Nice to know I have a bit of scope to move around though.
Now if I can just get a hold of one of Jase's VGTs for the TDI, I will have a serious beast on my hands. Plus an intercooler upgrade wouldn't go astray.
Owen.
