Isn't the powder corrosive to the wiring inside the car?

I heard that in most cases, the insurance company will write off the vehicle if a fire extinguisher has emptied out inside the cab.

    Anything is better than nothing,

I have put 3 cars out in my short lifetime, 2 minivans and a falcon... I think they would have been written off anyway (Fire damage to the vans were pretty bad) but I saved one familys xmas pressents and other invan clutter, and they were most greatful (van was a POS old thing, worth less than my extinguisher!!

    being facetious.
I was traveling home late one night about 15yrs ago and saw a car on fire at the side of the road. The petrol filler was on fire. There were 4 blokes, one using a pair of jeans to beat the flames, another, the donor, huddled in the spoon drain in his undies. They'd run out of fuel, gone & got a can but couldn't see where they were pouring, so you guessed it one used a lighter to light things up.. in a big way. The car was borrowed from a sister. It was a mint 180B coupe with vinyl roof. Burnt the paint and the vinyl off it but could have been much worse.

that stuff is corrosive to everything... not too bad when its dry, but if you get it on you, DONT Sweat.... (makes itching powders look like something Id use as a foot powder)

I am a professional scuba diver, either teaching or filming for tv / movies so I got the defender for is ability to carry a hell of alot, with very little effort. .. .. oh I also 4wd alot!

So I needed a rear area that could hold my scuba gear, camping gear etc, plus I sleep in my defender as well at times, so I had a brain wave.

I see alot of people using the back door as a table (with a fold down section) so seeing I am 6ft1, the length of the defender is to short for me with the seats in, so I thought I would be creative.

This is the final Product, it had to be raised 2 inchs due to my tanks being higher than the side steps.

Some nice marine carpet, and a safe spot to hold the fire extinguisher, I also added some tie down spots on both sides.

Other side has the same tie down spots as well as the power to the fridge, its setup so I use the side window to get into the fridge.

Here is the secret part.. the second slide of wood.

This second peice of wood, and go either out the back door area, or pushed to the front to make a full length bed in the defender (with out the back seats in) or just under a 5,5ft bed with the seats in and folded back.

The table is now out the back, its the full legth of the bottom, so it can extend a long way.

Thats about it... there is alot of things you can not see, like folding side steps so you can put the jack under the side wings, but still get at them from the front area if needed, a nice simple slide was created with U shape aluminium.... Nice flush handles on the bottom to make it easy to slide out... no rattles and made the defender alot quieter!

Anyway, hope this helps someone some day ...

If anyone wants any details, just ask.
I know this is a very old post, but I thought that this would be interesting to read, but the images are missing.is there any chance of getting them?

    Thanks
