    G'day Vlad

I would first try to isolate/disconnect the Reversing light, as this wiring is external and be more likely to have rubbed through and be causing a short, with that disconnected see how long the wiper fuse lasts, if it doesn't blow you know that the short is in the Rev light, if it blows then the short is in the wiper wiring.

when exactly does the fuse blow......?

    does it blow when reversing....?
    or when using the wipers.......?
or...when using the wipers whilst reversing....?

or does it just blow randomly........?
    or on a certain speed.......

if you get sick of replacing fuses....you can fit a thermal circuit breaker till you find the problem......
it could also be that the wipers stick to the glass from the sun and lack of use....
then overload the motor as soon as they are switched on.......

unplug the wires off the reverse light switch and see if you manage to blow another fuse.......this should cut the power from the reverse
light circuit......hence eliminating....or pin pointing one of the circuits......
if that dont work.....unplug the wiper motor and see if the fuse blows again.....

the wiper motor i think is located between the front vents.......

    good luck.......

    Vlad,

I just read your post again, I assumed it was the rangy.

The county is not much different to the defender. The problem with the county was the wire insulation for the wire to the wiper motor rubbed against a steel bar that supports the steering column. Just pull out the instument panel and put some electrical tape around the steel bar. It sits vertical. It is a quick and easy fix and probably worth a try.

The wiper motor is located in the same location as the ser 3 I think. On the left side behind the lower dash trim. I cant remember how it comes out.

    good luck.

Hmm will have a look. DO I need to remove the instrument panel far ? ie do I need to disconnect the speedo ? (If so how). ALso will I need to remove the steering wheel (please say no).

Oh and for those taking bets it failed agaion yesterday. (Blown fuse). ALthough it might have failed earlier thats just the first time I tried it since last replacing the fuse !

    Hi Vlad
If the reverse light is on the same fuse circuit as the wipers check your trailer connection for damage.

    Hi Vlad
I maybe, but not many people wire the plug for reverse lights, but worth checking.
Make sure a CAT LOVER hasnt put a 5 cent piece in there ,but then you would be blowing all sorts of fuses.

my first 110 (a V8) tried to torch itself one day off roading. smoke pouring out from under the bonnet and behind the dash. it turned out to be the wiring loom to the rear of the truck which runs up the inside of the chassis had chaffed through and shorted out the fuel pump power feed to earth, which of course being lucas wasn't fused. i was lucky to turn the key off in time before all the wiring melted and shorted together . anyway, just a thought that your reverse light wire may have the same intermittant earth problem. mine was right at the gearbox crossmember in side the chassis. there must be something sharp in there. the wiring is now in a hose, zip tied to the top of the chassis on the outside where i can see it!
