    water inside

    New problems.
Something is leaking and I have heaps of water under the floor mats. Because they are some foam stuff they suck water like mad and my floor starts to rot.
It is not from the cooler (not green) does not smell. I took those floor mats out (nasty stuff) to dry and the car was parked outside. It rained for 2 days and there was water in there again. So it must be leaking from outside.
If I try to reach up from inside it's wet from the very top. I had a look outside and the only thing I can think of is the area between engine and wipers. I took the wipers off and removed the plastic cover and it has a few cracks in the sikaflex. I cleaned the area and but heaps of sikaflex in the gap from left to right of the car. That is the area where the opening for the inside fan is as well.
Is it possible that water runs to the inside from there or are there other known gaps in the front. I have the feeling its mainly on the drivers side.

I have to wait till everything is dry again and use the garden hose to test.

If it is a Series model, I think they are supposed to leak. And in the weirdest places.

If it is a Discovery type drain, then inspect & flush the drains at each end.

Could be restricted & not allowing good drainage.

Hey, 4bee. Where in the hills. Grew up on my Great grand parents farm, between Aldgate and Mylor.

96 disco / have added it to my signature should make life easier

4bee: there are holes at each end but the water is sitting in the middle as the holes are not the lowest spot which is really clever. So water sits in the gap that is closed with sikaflex but as I said it has cracks.

Shorty. Between Piccadilly & Summertown behind Mount Bonython.

Matt. I know the drains are there but do you know sumfin?

I have never had a good look in there until just now

I see what you mean though. Can't see any obvious holes as such but when I pour water in there it certainly gets away ok & you can see it coming out behind the wing.

I suppose you had a look at the LHD centre wiper blank?

Are you air conditioned? If so, it could be from a blocked AC drain (1 off 2)at the centre tunnel. Can be seen from underneath.

I've seen a hose from the aircon. It drips nicely when the aircon is running.

I just had another look. When you follow from those drain holes to the middle of the car there is one section in the middle where you can't really see behind if you haven't removed the plastic cover from the wipers. The water was sitting there ans also in that gap.

The joint is exactly where the hole is. You see that joint filled with sikaflex. It runs from one drain hole to the other. That was cracked in some places.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I have read & have always been under the impression that there are 2 AC drains.

If this is so, then you'll need to locate the 2nd one & ensure it is clear.

If is anything like my Rangie the car is built with extra holes in the panel in front of the windscreen, probably for LHD or some other fittings. The lazy Poms "sealed" these by covering them with duct tape then painting over them. Over time the tape gets hard and falls off leaving nice holes for the water to flow inside when the car is on the right angle or is raining heavily. Needed to remove the panel behind the bonnet and filled all the holes with silicone. Perhaps they have used the same build quality on your Disco.
