any tips for viscous fan removal

i'm trying to remove the viscous fan on my 1985 v8 (110). i have the correct 32mm fan spanner and have a rod in the hole provided in the hub pulley to stop it rotating.i am trying to turn it colckwise (looking from front of engine) but it won't budge! any tips?
    thanks

Try placing the spanner and the holding rod in such a manner you can squeeze them together.

I think you should be turning it counter clockwise

    So is a 1985 v8 (110). different from all the other V8's

Which are all RH thread, so to undo it you would need to turn it counter clockwise.

    Maybe the 1985 v8 (110). is different ????

If it wont budge,is it possible to remove fanbelt and undo the 4 bolts on the waterpump hub????
Can be done on some vehicles, maybe easier to deal with it in a vice!!!!

belt it with a rubber mallet in both directions...

I wound up having to hang a home made stilson off of the pully cause I busted the rod thingy.

Like I said squeeze the spanner and rod together. If it's stuck stick a small ratchet strap on them and squeeze.
