Thread: new engines for 2006 transit, will the new fender cop one of these?

    Not to sure i'd like to be sitting in my fender doing over 160 .without some serious driveline balancing , sounds like it will be a grunty little donk, For how long? is the next thing!.

    I think the issue for me is that it may well be a better engine... but it will be a few years before we really know for sure. The TD5 does have some problems, but for the most part we know what they are.

    At any rate I'd want to give them at least a year to sort the bugs. If I was going to get one I'd wait until the last year as our current fender is quite new Even then I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle.

    I've got to say, I love the vents on our defender. They rock! I would miss them greatly.

    That is really interesting getting that info first hand. So far all the infor on the Transit Van motor I have been getting is that they are really bad. All my info is about 3rd hand so who knows how accurate it is, but I was told the 2.4 TD motor was really unreliable and very expensive to repair.
