How to disable ETC properly. Did you know this?

    I was very surprised

RAVE cd: Defender 2002 Electrical Library / Description and operation / Anti-Lock Braking System (page 44 of 422):

"NOTE: TC can be disabled by operating the brake pedal ten times within ten seconds, when the ignition is turned on. TC will be re-activated when the ignition is turned off then on again."

I'll go to try this weeked on sand

    Hi Ruslan,TOP POST mate!!!!!!!
I have a Disco2 with my own CDL acutator.I can do the same by locking the CDL then re starting. At least you Defender guys got given a CDL acutator.Im sure a bunch of the Extreme people would love this info.Ive played with mine heaps,AND KNOW FULLWELL NOW when I dont want the electronics putting in their 2 bobs worth.
If this works you Defender pilots will join us self converted D2 Pilots in having a free choice in the TC/ABS.

Can't find the same thing for the 03MY Disco in the Electronic Library. Seems like it must be a characteristic of the Wabco D Type unit. I wonder if the SLABS unit in the Disco has the same function but unmentioned?

I'll have to remember to give it a try.

If you have TC then you have ABS. Why would you pulse brake at all?

Ten times in ten seconds under what circumstances? While stationary or while on the move. I bet if it works it will be hard to do properly.

When would someone (under normal circumstances) ever brake 10 times in LESS THAN 10 seconds???

pulse braking is a braking technique usually reserved for older truck drivers when drums werent that good and engines low compression but it was all you had...

I still do it particualerly when decending a hill with trailers..

on the brakes and downshift.. if the engine is running a bit high you just tab the brakes hold em a little then let them off to cool down while you speed up slowly against the compression, slight dab of the brakes again to pull it up and then repeat...

you may be thinking of cadence braking which is when you simulate abs by braking to the point of lockup then backing off and reapplying...

very very similar but not quite the same..
